Design thinking and human centered design is a formal methodology for practical, creative resolution of problems, with the intent of an improved future result. It is a solution-based process that begins with a goal rather than solving for a specific problem or tactic.

By considering both present and future conditions of the problem, alternative solutions may be explored simultaneously. There are a variety of methods and frameworks that can be used, but the common themes include learning through prototyping, experimentation, iteration and an overriding passion for user or customer empathy.
